Dosti Welfare Organization presents, 12-Day, 4^th Dosti Peshawar Literature Festival (DPLF 2025), held from February 11 – 22, 2025, was a celebration of literature, intellect, and cultural discourse under the theme "Ranaiy-e-Khayal" (?????? ????) in collaboration with University of Peshawar, Commissioner Peshawar Division, District Administration Peshawar, Area Study Centre, Department of Arabic, Department of History, Community Services Program, UNICEF,  National Commission for Human Development, Child Protection Unit, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Study Centre, PUTA, Department of International Relations, KP Culture and Tourism Authority, Directorate of Archeology and Museum, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Iqbal Academy Pakistan, Pakistan Academy of Letters, University Public School, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University., the festival brought together scholars, writers, artists, and policymakers to engage in meaningful dialogue and creative expression.

Under the leadership of Dr. Syed Hanif Rasool Kakakhel, Head, Department of English, Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak, the festival was inaugurated with great distinction by Mr. Farhatullah Babar, Former Senator, as Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony, while Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqui, Director, Iqbal Academy Pakistan graced the Closing Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Their presence underscored the festival’s significance in fostering intellectual enrichment and cultural revitalization across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Intellectual and Literary Highlights:

The 4th DPLF 2025 featured an intellectually invigorating program comprising:

·       12 keynote addresses by eminent scholars, including Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, Prof. Dr. Akbar Zaidi, Dr. Khalid Mufti, Dr. Abdul Rauf Rafiqui, and Prof. Arif Khattak.

·       39 panel discussions

·       17 author & translator talks

·       3 book talks

·       11 workshops

·       3 masterclasses

·       19 standalone talks

·       9 book launch sessions

·       5 dialogues

·       A special session on Foreign Affairs at Qurtuba University Peshawar.

·       3 exhibitions showcasing art, culture, and science.

Educational and Cultural Engagements:

The festival placed a strong emphasis on education and inclusivity, hosting:

·       A Children’s Festival with dedicated sessions on Special Education.

·       A Higher Education Summit by PUTA.

·       Healing Documentaries are curated to offer profound insights into contemporary social and psychological challenges.

A cultural segment at Nishtar Hall, featuring:

·       Kathak Katha – a classical Kathak dance narrative by Khanzada Asfandyar Khattak.

·       Sanata – a compelling musical theatre production directed by Nisar Tanoli (Hazarewal Theatre), exploring the themes of silence and resilience.

·       A musical performance, Songs of Peshawar, by the Jwand Parasta Band, celebrating the region’s rich and diverse musical heritage.

Social Wellbeing Initiative:

Beyond literary and artistic engagements, the 4^th DPLF 2025 catalyzed social transformation through its Social Wellbeing Initiative, “Healthy Minds, Healthy Society”, resonating with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Drug and Beggar-Free Campaigns. A landmark session, The Silent Epidemic: Addressing Drug Addiction through Awareness and Education, utilized storytelling, poetry, and theatrical performances to foster empathy and awareness around substance abuse.

Expansion across Regions:

The festival expanded beyond Peshawar to include chapters in various districts, promoting regional engagement and inclusivity.

·       Mardan Chapter at Women University Mardan took place on February 14, 2025.

·       Bannu Chapter at University of Science & Technology Bannu was held on February 13, 2025.

·       D.I. Khan Chapter at Gomal University spanned from February 15-17, 2025.

·       Karak Chapter at Khushal Khan Khattak University, GPGC & GGDC, Karak, was held from February 18-21, 2025.

·       Kohat Chapter at FATA University took place from February 20-21, 2025.

Heritage Visit:

To enrich participants' cultural understanding, the festival organized a Heritage Visit featuring guided tours to:

·       Peshawar Museum – Showcasing the region’s rich history and Gandhara artifacts.

·       China Window – A cultural center promoting Pakistan-China friendship.

·       Gor Khatri – An ancient archaeological site with deep historical significance.

·       Heritage Track – A curated walk across Peshawar’s historical sites, offering an immersive experience of the city’s past.

The festival’s commitment to inclusivity and intellectual development was further reflected in its engagement with youth, students, and emerging writers through various mentorship sessions and literary outreach programs. Dedicated sessions for young authors and poets provided a platform for new voices to share their creative works and insights with established literary figures.

Additionally, interactive dialogues on contemporary socio-political and cultural themes encouraged vibrant discussions on pressing global and regional issues. The participation of policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders reinforced the festival’s role as a bridge between knowledge and action.
