About Global Education Campaign / Dosti Foundation

To create a literate world. Realizing that illiteracy is the root cause of all the imaginable ills in the world. Global Education Campaign has embarked on a mission to educate the world by establishing one-room schools throughout the world, thus bringing equality in the world. As we know there is a tremendous disparity between the haves and have-nots of the world. The world's riches are in the hands of rather a small number of individuals who belong to some of the richest countries. The poor nations are falling behind because of illiteracy and lack of skills. We aim to change the next generation by providing education to every child throughout the world. We have come up with a method that makes it possible: Establishing one-room schools everywhere. This method has shown amazing results in Pakistan and Afghanistan. We provide the initial supplies to establish the one-room schools that are either in their living room, verandah, or simply in open space, and with a green-net covering commonly used in the green-house industry. We provide whiteboards, textbooks, notebooks, slates, and pencils, etc. The community provides volunteer-teachers. After the initial set-up, there is no cost to us. However, we do maintain quality control and see to it that children are treated kindly and being nurtured as they deserve. This also means that schools do not shut down when the organization is not able to pay the salaries. The community becomes the proud owner of the school. GEC has provided assistance to a number of university students who could not continue their studies because of a lack of funds. Some of them were provided funds to help pay off their dues to the university before they could get their degrees released. GEC is working with several Thalassemia clinics in Peshawar, Pakistan. Knowing that prevention is of prime importance we have provided the services of two full-time counselors to these clinics. Other duties of the counselors include surveying the vulnerable communities and create a census report to determine the prevalence more accurately. GEC is very interested in providing prenatal, natal, and postnatal care to women, particularly to first-time mothers. We would like to strengthen the government clinics in remote areas of countries so they can take care of emergent situations locally. Sometimes the ambulation of these mothers takes long hours or a day or two which can be lethal both for the mother and the fetus. Worse, the family cannot even afford the transportation with devastating results.
